Managing versions of 3D city models

We proposed a new CityGML ADE to manage different versions of a city model contained in a CityGML file. This means that, in addition to be able to store the models of a city corresponding to different dates, the CityGML standard can also handle in a single file multiple versions of this city model. For example, an urbanisation project can have competing propositions and it may be interesting to store each of them in a single file, while allowing the user to switch between them in a visualisation tool. 3D-Use also supports this CityGML ADE.

Two different versions of a building that can be stored in a single CityGML file. This allows, for example, the comparison of the corresponding skylines thanks to the method measuring urban visibility
