Jean Cousty received his Ingénieur’s degree from the Ecole Supérieure d’Ingénieurs en Électrotechnique et Électronique (ESIEE Paris, France) in 2004 and the Ph.D. degree from the Université de Marne-la-Vallée (France) in 2007. After a one-year post-doctoral period in the ASCLEPIOS research team at INRIA (Sophia Antipolis, France), he is now teaching and doing research with the Informatics and Telecom Department, ESIEE Paris, and with the Laboratoire d’Informatique Gaspard Monge, Université Paris-Est. His current research interests include image analysis and discrete mathematics.
Mathematical morphology
Mathematical morphology (in the broad sense including aspects of digital topology and geometry) is a non-linear theory for image analysis born in France in the 60’s. It provides a set of segmenting and filtering tools that are useful in applications. This session aims at providing a « literary » anthology of mathematical morphology on graphs. It describes in the English language many ideas stemming from a large number of different papers, hence providing a unified view of an active and diverse field of research.
