Mathieu Risy from INSA Rennes has been hired by the LIRIS team. He will work on WP3, especially Inverse Procedural Modeling applied on digital terrains. See the detailed M2 intern subject.

We had our kickoff meeting with all the partners. We discussed the next steps and the overall organization of the project. We agreed to meet on a monthly basis for the steering committee and have more technical meetings every 3 months.

We are happy to annouce that Simon Perche will start his PhD in the Origami team of the LIRIS in October. Simon studied at UTBM and did his master thesis at ImViA in Dijon. He is the co-author of a paper in IEEE/CVF CVPR workshops.

Our arXiv paper on Semantic Segmentation of Satellite Images is now online with the associated GitHub repository. The main contributor of this work is Killian Oechslin, an intern that worked during last summer in our team. This semantic segmentation takes a satellite image as input and and returns the segmentation composed of six classes (dense vegetation, sparse vegetation, moor, herbaceous formation, building, and road).

We organized in collaboration with all the partners of the project a seminar on senescence of plants, with a guest specialist from the CIRAD Yves Caraglio. This was very instructive and will allow for more accurate modeling of the growing process of plants in our simulations.
