The GeoMod team of LIRIS laboratory designs algorithms and data structures related to geometric modeling. The main research topics of GeoMod are: geometry processing, modeling of complex natural scenes and ecosystem simulation, 3D shape reconstruction, generation of quality meshes, combinatorial aspect of compression, interactive visualization, mesh generation, calculation of analytical descriptors, evolving meshes with geometric and topological changes and huge meshes.
This axis deals with shape representation, analysis and synthesis, for shapes coming from industrial settings or archaeological discoveries. Our research focuses on quality mesh generation, through surface reconstruction or virtual sculpture; shape analysis through self-similarity characterization and learning in shapes.
This axis deals with the representation, simulation, and generation of virtual worlds. Applications range from video games to special effects and simulators. Our research applies on all the elements of a virtual world: the bare terrain and its landform features, vegetation, details on the ground, atmosphere effects and rivers.
This axis deals with cities…
