Data Quality : from Theory to Applications
The workshop is funded by the CNRS Mastodons Multidisciplinary Action through two CNRS research projects on data quality, namely MedClean (coordinator: Angela Bonifati) and QualiSky (coordinators: Lhouari Nourine and Jean-Marc Petit). Such research projects started in 2016 and are devoted to study data quality issues around biological and medical data and cosmological and astronomic data, respectively. Within these two research projects, we are being confronted with real-world data as provided by specialists, and also with data quality expectations 'in the wild'. These expectations may lead to raise many questions and lines of research unforeseen in our community.
The workshop has arrived at its second edition in 2017. This year, we will be glad to host as keynote speakers: Ihab Ilyas (Professor, Cheriton School of Computer Science, University of Waterloo, Canada), Felix Naumann (Professor Chair for information systems at the Hasso Plattner Institute at the University of Potsdam, Germany) and Raymond Ng (Professor of Computer Science, Canada Research Chair in Data Science and Analytics, University of British Columbia, Canada).
We will have also two invited speakers from french universities (to be confirmed) and involve people from the industry who are interested to discuss with us about the data quality problems on real-world data within or beyond our specific multi-disciplinary domains. We will also present the results of our preliminary investigation on biological and astronomic data, respectively.
