Challenges in Making the Semantic Web Formalisms and Technologies Accessible to the Web of Things

Qui:
Maxime LEFRANCOIS

Nautibus, salle TD2

Semantic interoperability is said to be the enabler for 40-60% of the global economic impact of the Internet of Things at the horizon 2025. In this talk I propose an overview of some of the main scientific problems that need to be solved to reach this goal, along with some of my research and standardization contributions. 1. how to make the Things able to securely interact on the Web in conformance with its architecture principles, and the REST architectural design principles? 2. how to seamlessly make so that the Things and what they communicate are described using the Semantic Web formalisms and technologies? 3. for a given application domain, how to collaboratively design a high quality ontology, or make the existing ones interoperable?

I will anchor this presentation on my contributions to the following research and standardization groups: - the ITEA2 Smart Energy Aware Systems project (ITEA Award for Innovation 2017) - the ANR OpenSensingCity project, - the W3C Spatial Data on the Web Working Group, - the W3C Linked Building Data Community Group.
